The Mazda CX-9 SUV – A Family SUV

I was provided this 2017 Mazda CX-9 AWD Signature for a week courtesy of Mazda and DriveShop. I did not receive compensation for this review and all opinions are my own.

Mazda CX-9 Test Driving |ThymeandBerry.com

I have something fun and exciting to share with you guys today! We know weddings could be stressful but are also so fun to attend specially if it is for family. We get to have a family reunion, great conversation, and some dancing too. That to me is the perfect way of spending my time. When I found out about my sister’s intimate wedding that sounded like the perfect getaway and I was beyond excited to attend. I immediately however thought of  how we will be transporting a family of seven to the wedding as our small car is not suitable and frankly it would not fit 7 people.

I am thankful that I had the chance to partner with DriveShop and Mazda and test drive a Mazda CX-9 Signature SUV for a week during the wedding’s events, and let me tell you it was amazing! It was my first time driving a Mazda, and I have to say the luxury of this vehicle is perfect. We used the SUV to drive to my sister’s wedding by the Hudson, it was a perfect trip and we loved the NYC views along the way!

First off let me say the look of this SUV is on point, and the interior and all the specs really throw this SUV over the top. We got a Machine Gray Metallic with an Auburn Nappa leather, that is gorgeous. I had never seen an Auburn interior before, it really gave this vehicle a really luxurious feel. The back seat had leg room for the riders, so you didn’t feel like their legs were smashed up against the seats, which was really nice. The trunk area allows for a large amount of storage for luggage! It even offers a third-row seating, that you can put down or use and the kids enjoyed sitting there! It is nice to have the option to use the seating or use it for more storage space!

Smooth Travel In The City and Highway

I was amazed at how smooth this Mazda was driving down the highway and even in the city. You didn’t feel every bump in the road like some vehicles. It was also was nice and quiet when we were driving higher speeds down the highway! I don’t know if you have ever experienced a car that is really loud due to the sound of tires or wind, it can give you a headache in no time! The inside was pretty quiet when we traveled, and it got great gas mileage, especially for an SUV! You can get around 20 miles per gallon in the city, and 26 on the highway!

The 2.5 turbo engine gave the vehicle a lot of power, and made for a smooth drive! It made going the speed limit a breeze, and I loved the acceleration when you went to pass another vehicle. You didn’t feel like you couldn’t get the speed you needed to go around the car with ease.

Features We Loved

I will share some of the features of the car that we particularly loved! This vehicle was so fun to test drive, and it was such a memorable occasion, as my sister’s wedding was beautiful!

Rear View Camera

You have a rear view camera, so when you go to back up, you can look through the 8″ color display on the dash, to see exactly what is behind you. This is a great way to eliminate those pesky blind spots and see if anything small out of the view of your eye is behind you. This works wonderfully for parallel parking, you see how close you are to the vehicle behind you!

Lots of Space

I love the space this SUV offers, you have space in the front seat and back seat for leg room. Plus the trunk is very spacious, and it worked great for storing all our luggage for the wedding! We even had some room to spare, I know this would be great for my grocery shopping, and of course, clothes shopping trips with the girls!

Comfort For Driving

Mazda placed the console and shifter higher than the previous CX-9, which gives you more control as a driver behind the wheel. You can reach things easier, and spend more time focusing on the road, then reaching. They have all the controls in hands reach, making it easy to clean your windshield, adjust the radio, view your speed, and more with easy! Fewer distractions and more time focusing on safety!

BOSE Premium Sound System

I love to be able to hop into my vehicle and cruise down the road listening to my music! Mazda has an amazing BOSE sound system, so you can relax and just enjoy the open road listening to your favorite songs while you travel! This was such a nice perk for us, it makes driving longer distances to go a little bit quicker!

Push Button Start and Keyless Entry

One thing I think is so neat, is the Mazda CX-9 offers a push button start system! I have never driven a car that had the push button start, so it was really neat. Plus it is a keyless entry, you just carry the key fob and as you approach the vehicle it will sense it, and pick up the key fb, and allow you to enter the car!

Luxurious Interior

I can’t skip over the interior, I have to say once again how stunning it is. The Auburn Nappa leather, really makes this Mazda stand out, and the whole look is so luxurious. The driver seat offers two memory positions, so you and your passenger can adjust the lumbar, mirrors, etc to fit your preference, and then lock it in. Then when you get in, you hit your button, and it automatically adjusts to the preference you saved! The seats are heated, which would be so nice for those cold winter mornings, get in and have your bottom and back nice and warm!

Sounds like it was a great test drive. My very first car that I ever owned was a Mazda – obviously an older make and model. It was a great car to drive.
